Brandon Muhawi is an LA-based saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator. He is a regular collaborator with independent musicians in the LA area and performs with up-and-coming artists such as DeissMarie, Joey Naz, and Dakota Noxon. He can also be heard as a soloist on tracks produced by LoveSoul Productions.

Brandon’s work as a music educator focuses on multicultural learning and social justice through music, utilizing music and pedagogies as a vehicle for teaching and exemplifying cultural perspectives. An active educator in the LA and Long Beach areas, he can be found teaching instrumental music and jazz in settings ranging from school classrooms to private lessons. Giving back to his roots, he also teaches at La Sierra Creative Arts, a summer music camp for students in the San Joaquin Valley.

He is also a board member of California Alliance for Jazz, the state’s leading organization in promoting jazz education, where he is in charge of coordinating logistics for the organization’s contributions to the California All-State Music Education Conference.

Born and raised in Fresno, he migrated to Southern California to earn his bachelor’s degrees in both Jazz Performance and Music Education from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB, where he studied saxophone with Sal Lozano. He is currently pursuing his M.M. in Jazz Studies at California State University, Northridge.
